A MEMBER PORTAL MOBILE APPLICATION
PSIA, the Professional Ski Association of America, was in need of a mobile app for their members. The mobile app needed to include features from PSIA’s website, member portal, and Association Management Software (AMS.)
Project Discovery
As a part of this design and discovery engagement , I worked closely with the client to gather requirements and define the acceptance criteria / parameters of the application. Below are a few of the documents and diagrams I created during the initial discovery phase of the project.
Wireframes
At completion of the discovery phase, I had the necessary knowledge to construct wireframes. I referenced the site map as well as the client’s existing applications while building out the wireframes.
View the wireframe prototype here.
User Flows
Due to the complexity of the application and multiple sets of users, more than a “clickable” prototype or wireframe needed to be created to account for all of the use cases and potential avenues to navigate throughout the application. Below are a few examples of some of the user flows I created to hand off to development as part of the design intent.
Mockups
Once the wireframes and user flows were complete, I defined the visual aesthetics of the app mockups. Since this application was going to be developed in Flutter (a framework that designs for both Android and iOS) I was intentional to design the mockup in a way that would comply / work on both android and iOS devices. Using inspiration from the Clients website as well as existing applications helped to determine the screen designs.
Main Navigation
One of my goals with the design of this app was to create an interface that is up to date with the latest mobile application design standards both in terms of style and intuitive navigation.
One way I achieved this was by integrating the tab bar (shown on the bottom of the screen) as the main source of navigation throughout the app.
Home Dashboard
The Home Dashboard is the main hub of the app. Here the user can view the latest featured news articles and navigate to their profile.
On the dashboard the user also has direct access to Shop, Pro-offers, Toolkits, and Make a Gift.
News
Starting at the top of the News page, the four most recent news articles are highlighted.
Directly below the featured news, six other news articles are displayed chronologically and can be viewed via scrolling right. The user also has the option to view more news articles by selecting the “View All News Articles” button.
When scrolling, the user can also access the Division News and Other Industry News sections.
Events
At the top of the Events screen, the “My Events” card displays the user’s next upcoming event, registered events and unfinished registrations.
Within the app the user can search for events and view the events calendar.
Here the user also has direct access to Interski, National Academies, Team Selection, and Women’s Summit information.
Profile
On the Profile page, the user can update their profile image and view their member card.
Here the user also has access to all of their invoice information and details.
The profile section also includes: My account, Referrals and Gifts, Help, Legal, and Logout sections.
